Once your record has been discovered, it will be downloaded into the U.S. computer system, resulting in an INS and an FBI file. You will then be denied entry, and once you’re denied you will be required to apply for a U.S. Entry Waiver.

But, if you have never been stopped at the border, then it means that they don’t know about your criminal record. This is the time to act – Go get a Record Suspension (Pardon)! After your record is pardoned or destroyed, your FPS# will no longer appear on searches conducted at the border. Therefore, they will not have access to your past record, and there will be no need to get a U.S. Waiver.

Identification required for Pardon and US Waiver

Please bring two (2) pieces of valid government issued identification (1 must be a photo ID).

The following are types of acceptable identification. Please check with your local office for additional types of identification which may be accepted:

• Passport
• Driver's Licence
• Birth Certificate
• Canadian Citizenship Card
• Permanent Resident Card
• Certificate of Indian Status
• Immigration Documents i.e. work or study permits
• Military Family ID card (MFID)
• Record of Landing for Citizenship Applicant
• Certificate of Live Birth
• Nexus card
